The process starts when we specially skein the blank yarn we receive on cones to be dyed. Each colorway has a specific recipe and bin to maintain that each skein we dye will come out looking as expected. Here you can see some blank yarn and our wall of colorway bins.
Once the yarn is dyed to order, it’s hand-washed and laid out to dry. The next day, the newly dyed yarn is stacked and caked or re-skeined before being banded and sorted. Each order has a designated bin to keep track of what stage of the process it’s in. As orders are filled, the bins are moved to the shipping table to be bagged and labeled and sent to the post office. Below you’ll see the freshly washed and dried yarn and our long shelf of order bins.
